GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Rugged Design: Hayward® PKD and PKS actuators feature a proven vane design for extremely reliable service with minimum maintenance. This design utilizes only one moving part, the vane assembly, to product torque sufficient to operate all sizes of ball valves and butterfly valves up to 8" in size. The actuator body is constructed from an aluminum alloy and is epoxy coated.
Two Modes of Operation: Series PKD actuators are air-to-air (double acting) actuators. While the PKS Series are
air-to-spring (fail-safe) actuators. Air-to-air actuators require air pressure for both actuation cycles, open and close.
Air-to-spring actuators utilitize a mechanical spring return unit to operate one of the actuation cycles. This type of actuator can be set to have the spring, rather than air pressure, either open or close the valve.
Modular Mounting Options: PKD and PKS actuators feature a modular mounting system for the many different options that are available for these actuators. Options mount separately to the actuators, they are not built-in. This allows for a specific applications. You never have to pay for an option package with features you may not need. Modular mounting also means you can add options to the actuator in the field.
Manual Override Standard: Both PKD and PKS actuators can be operated manually in the event of air or electric failure.
